With summer coming to its end everyone is trying to get that last bit of sun, the holidays are right around the corner. All you ladies out there should be thinking of what gifts you would like to receive!! Wow things have just been crazy around here!!! Since we have gotten back from Las Vegas we have been keeping busy by putting out all the new goodies and custom designing some wonderful pieces. It seems to be the season of purging ourselves of the old and making new!! We are taking old gold pieces and turning them into new and wonderful rings, earrings and pendants. Now is the time clean out all those closets and lets make something new!!!

The jeweler is on vacation and we will be closed next week (August 5th-9th) and reopen on August 12th. If there are any questions or concerns just e-mail or leave a message, we will get back to you as soon as we re-open.

Viva Las Vegas!!

We have just returned from the Las Vegas show!! It is one of the largest jewelry shows in the world and showcases all the new up and coming trends and styles from all over the world, also a excellent source for new gemstones and designs. Jewelry has already been put out in the cases and new pieces are arriving within the next couple of weeks. We also picked up some very unique loose stones so you can design your own pieces. Spring Trends

Five spring trends to add to your wardrobe. These don't even have to cost a lot of money, just look to what you have or come in and add a few others!!

-Big chunky beads. In rough natural forms accented by gold or silver.

-Yellow gold is Hot! Hot! Hot! Bangles, necklaces, and earrings, pile it all on!!

-Pearls. They are soft, feminine and neutral. Layer strands with gold chain or other beads.

-Color. It brightens up you face and just makes you smile.

-Flower accents. Flowers are every where especially in jewelry, earrings, pendant and rings.

Spring is finally here, well kinda. As we are all waiting for the tulips to open up and the sun to shine we are working very hard to get ready for the up coming occasions. There are a lot of anniversaries, communions, christenings, baptisms and birthdays and we are stocking the cases with new custom pieces, crosses and wonderful gifts for all ages. For all those women out there who's husbands have no clue what to get them come in and start your "wish lists". We pick out all your favorite items and put them on the list so when he comes in we can show him all you favorites items, and you get something that you really love. We also have the wonderful jeweler on staff for all those annoying repairs that have just been sitting in the jewelry box all winter long and are waiting to be worn again. Vernal Equinox inspection time

Vernal equinox occurs twice a year. That is a perfect calendar to follow for jewelry inspection. At least twice a year your jewelry should be brought into a jeweler for inspection of prongs, loose stones and ultrasonic cleaning. Everyday wear and tear is not always visible to the naked eye. The loop which a jeweler uses to closely examine jewelry is invaluable. Make sure to ask if you too could look through it and see the detail yourself!

Windex really works

Are your rings too tight? Can't get them over your knuckle? Use Windex!!! It may sound like a line from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" but it really works. Windex has just enough silicone in it to help slip the ring right off. If that still does not work you need to consult your jeweler and have them clipped off. After that you need to wait at least two weeks for your finger to reshape itself, then have your finger remeasured and then repaired. You can also use Windex on tight bangles and a quick clean up before you go out for the evening.

Juicy Gems was created by the staff of Robin McCormick Jewelry and Design Studio to let them share their expertise on all things jewelry related.

Robin McCormick is a current resident of Katonah who worked for and designed jewelry with a renowned jeweler in Northern Virginia. The family relocated to this area in 2005 where Robin is continuing her work with rare gemstones, pearls and original designs. The opportunity arose last year to work in the town of Katonah in the location of a former jewelry store. She was raised in Greenwich, CT where her family still resides. The shop runs seamlessly with the help of Casey Carter and Zadik Agcaian.

Casey Carter graduated from Fox Lane High School and upon completion started Gemology school at the Gemological Institute of America in New York City. Casey continued his studies for the next two years in Carlsbad, CA the world headquarters for the GIA. His degree includes expertise in diamonds, colored stones and design. He has been working in this part of Westchester County since 2003.

Zadik Agcaian began his career as a bench jeweler at the age of 13. He has been developing his unsurpassing skills for 48 years. His specialties include wax and hand fabrications, diamond and gemstone setting and antique restorations. Zadik was born and raised in Istanbul but he is of Armenian descent. He has been in the United States since 1972.
